Small Stories Big Picture – 2010 Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia.
A short film by Jamie Andrei.
I took my video camera instead of stills to document a day out with friends & the spirit of the event.
It is one of the best initiatives I have participated in, we had a great day meeting new people & getting to know a part of the city that we take for granted. Common courtesy, exploration & openness to your fellow man is still alive in parts of Sydney. This event really helps to re-enforce these social bonds. Really well done.
I hope you enjoy my short film (which I have donated to the event organisers for free useage for future promotion/explotation). Feel free to share & send the link to others.
See you at the Beresford for a beer on the 18th of August.
Summary of the event.
The event is a bike tour with a difference. Touring the design precinct & some lesser known parts of Surry Hills, participants are provided with a bike, a LOMO camera, map and passport to aid in their self-guided tour, documenting discoveries as they go along.
During the tour stories are to be collected from bespoke retailers, cafes and designers who in turn stamp passports for discounts on return visits. The tour is part of the Sydney Design festival…
